Kernow Magic – Centre Stage

Sitting on the table in the Kernow Magic office is a box containing all our pre-ordered Ultracinese units and a list of lucky customers who will be receiving theirs in the next couple of days. Also sitting in the office is one of our local customers Paul Hawken who has kindly offered to review the product straight out of the packet.

So over to Paul…..

PAUL: First impressions, the unit is packed in a simple box with a DVD and instructions on paper, none of the fancy packaging that we get with releases from Yigal Mesika. Also in the box are two nuts and bolts and a MAGNET, don’t panic, the magnet is to prove that the brass nut and bolt are not conductive and therefore dispel the theory that magnetic forces are at play.

After fitting the battery to the unit it’s pretty much ready to go, however you will need to think about where the unit is going on your person and I would suggest that you wear full length trousers and long sleeve top but you have no special fittings or concealments to worry about. Once you have set it up you can leave it in place all day/night if you wish and you are always “ready to go”

Initial set up it easy but you will still need to work out the best positions and the best way to hold the bolt. I only read the paper instructions when I first had a go and the nut didn’t move a whisker, in fact I almost resulted to using “real telekinesis” by staring at it and willing it to spin. However, everything is enlightened by watching the DVD and refining the set up.

The unit doesn’t make a sound at all and this adds to the effect in the laymans eyes, all the heat remains on the nut and bolt which are obviously un-gimmicked and can even be left with the spectator as a very cheap give away.

KENNY: An immediate routine I can think of would be to have a suitable hole punched in your business cards then when trying to close the deal with a potential booker or partner place the bolt through the hole, Ultracinese the nut onto it and hand it over to keep. Wow!!

PAUL: The DVD gives you some other ideas to play with including a brilliant spinning coin that could be a killer with the right spectators. Once you have worked out the basics it looks like there are no limits to what you can use the device with to create your own “real” magic. Actually I think this is as close as you can get to performing real magic in the layman’s eyes.

The unit it well made but needs to be treated with respect, also there is a need for a couple of extra accessories that would make life easier. Also make sure you have a constant back up of AA batteries just in case.

All in all great value for money and well worth the wait.

Ultracinese may be one of THE most amazing PK effects ever. Imagine you pick up a nut and bolt (both may be borrowed), thread the nut on the bolt, and upon your command the nut slowly starts threading itself off of the bolt as if caused by some ghostly action. Reminding the audience that he has not once touched the cards, the spectator holding the cased deck is instructed to
remove the cards from the case and to count them “OUT LOUD, one at a time, FACE DOWN.” He does so and counts only 51 cards to the table! In other words, one card is missing! You can hear a penny drop “my goodness, could it be…?” Before that thought and the resulting implications are allowed to fully form the spectator is asked to turn the cards FACE UP. He is now instructed to specifically locate and remove the SELECTED card. Even with those standing nearby assisting him, he cannot locate the card, it has COMPLETELY VANISHED from the deck!

This amazing disappearance is accomplished remotely and automatically without you having to touch the cards. Only ONE DECK is used and it is given to the spectator BEFORE the card is selected. Again, reminding the audience that he’d previously declared this his “money trick” the performer gestures towards but does not actually touch his wallet. It’s been on the table since before the card was selected. A spectator is invited to rummage around within. Inside she finds ONE SINGLE CARD. This is the SELECTED CARD!

Note: The performer is free to re-produce the selected (and just vanished) card from a variety of amazing places: inside his wallet, inside his shoe, under his hat, or even a spectator’s own pocket! It’s really up to you.
Again, it’s FULLY AUTOMATIC. Can immediately be REPEATED with ANOTHER named card and without any re-set!

The US Playing Card Co. which has been based in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 100 years has recently moved to a state of the art facility in Hebron, Kentucky. They will be investing more than $30 million over the next two years to establish a new manufacturing and distribution headquarters on the new 40 Acre campus.
